Komikon 2012

At long last I was able to be experience .... KOMIKON 2012!!!!!!! after my shift....I decided to extend so that when I get to KOMIKON I won't have to wait for so long til the gates open. My shift ended @ 8 in the morning and the event will start by 10 am besides it was just near the office just one ride and I'm there. The event was held at the Bayanihan Center, Unilab Compound Pasig City from 10am til 7pm. When I got there this was the huge crowd of comic book fans eager to get in the hall. Geek Pride as I may see it....I'm a proud comic geek!

Entrance fee was P100 per person.
Unlike most comic book fans, I would be more interested with local comic book artist. My current favorite artists are:

  • Mervin Ignacio and Ian Sta. Maria - Skyworld
  • Manix Abrera - Kikomachine
  • Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo - Trese series comic books
  • Paolo Fabregas - The Filipino Heroes League
  • Freely Abrigo - Kulas
  • and of course the uber famous Pol Medina - Pugad Baboy series

I was able to grab a copy of the Fifth installment of Trese series luckily I was able to have it signed by Budjette and Kajo!!! Kudos for my patience in waiting in the long queue!

Nuvali -Solenad-Republic Wakepark

Nuvali/Solenad

After, checking out from the resort (Twin View, Pansol) this was about 3pm. We decided to visit Nuvali and Solenad in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. It was my first time to see this place. "ANG GONDOH!!!!!!"

Instant road trip! =) I didn't have much pictures from Solenad and Nuvali...that I regret but I can still visit that place in the future. It's better to travel to Nuvali/Solenad if your have your own wheels. I don't see any taxi nor jeep or any other form of public transport. Most of the travellers bring their own car or in our case we did a car pool.

The area was well designed with trees and amazing landscape. How I wish they can do this in most of Manila's major city's ....minus the annoying credits such as "proyekto ni mayor....", etc. Look at those sample pictures. That's beauty with high end taste!

We visited the Republic WakePark - a man-made wake boarding lake (I believe its manmade) in the area and it was awesome! ....I might try that in the future. Viewing deck was wide and you'll have a good view of the entire lake.

After the relaxing view of the lake, we went back to Nuvali to eat out at Chubby Rib Shack. They have WiFi also which made me give their resto a 4 out of 5 stars! The place was kinda small though if you visit the place with like 20 people or a big family of 30 you might wait for a bit til the whole place is empty.

They have smoking and non-smoking rooms. Ambiance was cozy and has this all American resto feel. I got myself this Bleu Cheese triple burger it was so good. They used white onions which made my mouth less stinky. However, before we got there I already filled myself from our brunch. I haven't even fully digested the fiesta dinner we had last night. Since it was a rare opportunity to eat this hefty bun, I breathe in, moved a bit of space for the burger, bite, chew, chew, chew, swallow. Look at that thick meaty juicy patty, let's do it again bite, chew, chew, chew, swallow.

After eating we went back to Manila....for me back to work. Back to reality. Fantasy of luxury turns off and tomorrow will be another day.

Twin View Resort, Pansol

Twin View Resort,
Pansol Laguna: my short experience with weekend luxury

The long awaited workforce team building, (that's outside Manila) has been placed into reality! This event happened last Oct 20-21, 2012.

The only plan was look for the grand resort that will fit the budget.
We left Manila at around 11am after shift. After all the planning, 8 people confirmed joining the partey! We arrived in Pansol at around 1pm. We had to search the perfect resort for the gang! We had referrals and on the spot invitations and offers to which resort we're gonna get. Once you get there men and women would be approaching you and offering different resort deals.

From all the options, everyone agreed with Twin View Resort.

When we arrived to Twin View Resort, you'll immediately see the interesting wall made of rocks, making it feel like you're in a mini Intramuros. I had this warm welcomng feeling just by looking at the stairs, walls and garden of this resort.

You'll see this interesting blue infinity pool. "ANG GONDOH!!!!!!!!!!"

You can buy live crabs with big claws on the road sides of Pansol

Photoshoot before anything else with chazel and bianca!

facilities: unlimited videoke (no coins!) kanta to sawa!,
kitchen,
stove,
pans,
kitchen tools,
there's also a sari sari store outside if you need to buy the basics like rice, tube ice, toiletries, etc.
tiled kitchen floors,
grill for making ihaw ihaw,

I stayed in this room, this is the fan room. the other room is air-conditioned.

One thing I like with this resort is that the bedrooms are on the 2nd floor, kitchen is downstairs. Kitchen has open space and there's good continuous air flow. The house is elevated on a hill and once the breeze blows....voala!!! all fresh air! If someone cooks, the smell of food and smoke won't get stuck on your clothes or stuff.

When travelling or going to a vacation it will be best if we'll cook our own food, mix with our own flavor, experiment with different ingredients, vacation will be more fun that way. The whole gang chopped, sliced, prepped, steamed, fried, grilled, and after we're done cooking.....we made this boodle fight style dinner. We snatched banana leaves on a vacant lot with banana plantation snatched a few leaves. We did it again for brunch the following day. Here's our interesting sample:

I'll definitely miss this place. Hopefully in the future pag may budget i can get back there and enjoy the short piece of luxury
