Burot Beach Camp, Calatagan, Batangas

My First Travel for 2015: Travelled to Burot Beach Camp in Calatagan, Batangas last March 14-15, 2015. About 4-5 hour bus trip from Manila.

I was invited by fellow blogger Redhiker for an overnight beach camp in Burot Beach.

I was craving for another out-of-town beach adventure. Last beach travel that I had was way back 2013 when my friends and officemates went to Puerto Princesa, Palawan. I miss the sand and the salt water. The chilled atmosphere and the calming waves.

I would prefer beach camps over a luxury resort. The simplicity of enjoying nature at its finest.

The group met in SM Mall of Asia, then we headed off to Coastal Mall Terminal where we took an ordinary bus Celyrosa to Calatagan, Batangas. Unfortunately we experienced slow traffic in parts of Cavite and Tagaytay which affected our travel time. But that's all good, it's part of the backpacking experience.

I haven't checked the time but we arrived at the beach on the evening....I would assume around 19:00.

We did see campers all set-up cooking their dinner, drinking, chilling, relaxing, having fun....simply enjoying the laid back night time away from work and away from the busy city.

We set-up our tents - our "hotel room" for the night, and prepared for our evening dinner. At long last I'll be able to use my portable stove for the first time. The other one I had broke even before I was able to use it for camping. The nozzle that connected to rubber tube was unexpectedly brittle. And that tiny damage was beyond repair. Unfortunately, I lost the receipt thinking that it was in great shape. Oh well lesson learned better get good quality stuff than be sorry. Now I'm using Kovea Maximum Stove, it's definitely lightweight, and will only consume a tiny space in your backpack.

I started cooking rice, I was not used to cooking in a very tiny portion. So I had this fear of not cooking it well and we won't be eating anything for the night. But after minutes of heating..... voila! It became rice! and yes I did bring that big water container I think it's about 5-6L. I'm a big guy....I need gallons of water.

Dinner time! At last Chillax Time!

I was so lazy to take pictures that evening, I was so after dinner and socials.....I went to dreamland.... and after 3 hours of dozing off.....I was up at 05:00 am....I need to release the kraken while most campers are still asleep. FYI Burot Beach only has 2 toilets and 2 shower rooms. I would suggest visitors would need to manage your time to be able to queue for the toilet or shower. Don't be picky this beach doesn't have the greatest amenities of a resort, but this is what you'll only need in this remote location. We'll this is the simple life! If I only had more time I'd love to spend a couple more days max of a week perhaps.Once you embrace the simplicity of nature you'll definitely have a great time staying on this beach.

Took a few shots during the early dawn and this camping site is just amazing.

And so the sun rose above the campers, and to my awe....there were more campers than I expected. The whole stretch of beach had campers everywhere. Some brought their cars and parked it on available spots. Families and friends gather here to enjoy this simple beach camp.

Found this creature chilling on a rock =)

One thing that disappointed me would be the tons of trash.
For Christ's sake people!.....PLEASE BE RESPONSIBLE WITH YOUR TRASH!

Trash was like scattered everywhere....just disappointing.... This should be everyone's responsibility.
At least keep all the trash in one bag. Then place it in the garbage collection area.
I even saw some campers just left the bags of chips on their campsite. So disappointing.....

Worst we saw this.....

Anyways, let's all be responsible in keeping this place clean.
Just heartbreaking to see this irresponsible behaviour.

And now ... selfie time =) #maumaykayonglahat =)
